Comparison of the Scolicidal Activity of <i>Pulicaria gnaphalodes</i> and <i>Alhagi maurorum</i> Extracts against Protoscoleces of <i>Echinococcus granulosus</i> Sensu Lato <i>In Vitro</i>

Background: Cystic echinococcosis (CE), caused by the larval stage of Echinococcus granulosus, is a zoonotic disease and has global distribution. Today, herbal compounds are highly regarded in order to inactivate hydatid cyst protoscoleces. This study aimed compare scolicidal activity hydroalcoholic extract Pulicaria gnaphalodes Alhagi maurorum against protoscoleces vitro. Methods: The P. A. extracts were evaluated at 50, 100, 150, 200 mg/mL concentrations following 15, 30, 60 minutes exposure. Then, they compared with Albendazole (5 g/100 mL) as positive control distilled water negative one similar doses. viability was confirmed 0.1% eosin stain test under light microscope. experiments performed twice, data analyzed GraphPad software version 5.0. Results: results this indicated that killed 100% concentration after 30 exposure, but same time could kill 90% Conclusion: findings present had strong effect; however; vivo studies needed evaluate effectiveness plant.
